The Inauguration LPL team is played with 5 teams. Colombo Kings are the most expected to qualify for the playoffs in the first place. On paper and the field in the first stages of LPL1, they had the backing and player strength. Soon, some of the players had to leave out for their national duty and a couple of big-game performances has cost them the chance of finals too. Colombo Kings are brought by Murfad Mustafa. The team was supposed to Coach by Dav Whatmore but finally, Rangana Herath has settled in and for LPL1 Angelo Mathews was the captain and most likely he will continue in the same role.

2. Galle Gladiators
Galle Gladiators was brought by Nadeem Omar, he has purchased the PSL team Quetta Gladiators and so he named this Galle team after it. The team’s Head coach is Moin Khan and the initial captain was Shahid Afridi, due to his personal emergency he left and the team was captained by Bhanuka Rajapaksa. Even with winning 2 out of their 8 games, they qualified for semis, as Kandy Tuskers NRR is below than them. They even went on to play the finals but lost against Jaffna Stallions.

Sachiin.J.Joshi the owner of the Viiking Ventures, brought this franchise. Owais Shah is the head coach of the DV team. Dasun Shanaka lead the team in LPL 2020 and he might lead once again. They have won 5 out of 8 games and qualified for the Semi-Finals. They lost against Jaffna Stallions in Semis and were eliminated from the LPL1. They are one of the strongest teams in the Lanka Premier League.

Kandy Tuskers is owned by Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s brother Sohail Khan and Abbas Muni. Hashan Tillakaratne is the Head Coach, Kushal Perera is the captain of the Tuskers team. Chris Gayle missed the last season but will play this season. Their performance is not satisfactory as they won only 2 out of 8 games and missed the chances of semis. Lasith Embuldeniya is in prime form and will be the important player to watch out for the Kandy Tuskers team.
